Palm tree moss observed along the Eagle Creek Trail approximately adjacent to Upper Punchbowl Falls, Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area............March 24, 2012. The photo at left shows a close-up of the upper portion of the female gametophyte containing the archegonia. The photo at center shows a close-up of the male gametophyte with brownish antheridia in the center. The photo at right showsa close-up of a capsule at the upper tip of the sporophyte, with the brownish operculum at its tip.
