Palm tree moss observed at left along the Eagle Creek Trail approximately adjacent to Upper Punchbowl Falls, Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.......March 24, 2012 .Note the leafy shoots which radiate from the top of the main stem and the tooth-like leaves. Palm tree moss observed along the Eagle Creek Trail approximately adjacent to Upper Punchbowl Falls, Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area............March 24, 2012. The photo at left shows a close-up of the upper portion of the female gametophyte containing the archegonia. The photo at center shows a close-up of the male gametophyte with brownish antheridia in the center. The photo at right showsa close-up of a capsule at the upper tip of the sporophyte, with the brownish operculum at its tip.
