Pronghorn: Antilocarpa americana - Resident herds have recently returned to the hillsides south of the Columbia River between the Deschutes and John Day Rivers.
Canadian Elk, Wapiti: Cervus canadensis - Generally found on higher slopes along the rim of the Columbia River Gorge, although some herds may come downhill to winter forage along Interstate 84 near Rooster Rock State Park, at Catherine Creek, or on Sevenmile Hill near The Dalles.
Black-tailed Deer: Odocoileus hemionus var. columbianus - Common at all elevations in the western Columbia River Gorge.
Mule Deer: Odocoileus hemionus var. hemionus - Common east Cascades, although populations near the eastern Cascade foothills may have a mix of black-tailed deer genes.
Mountain Goat: Oreamnos americanus - Not currently resident in the Columbia River Gorge. Occasional animals migrate through the area from the Elkhorn Mountains to the Oregon or Washington Cascades. A large resident herd can be found on Mount Adams and wintering in the upper Klickitat River basin.
Bighorn Sheep: Ovis canadensis - Resident herds can be found along the lower John Day River, middle Deschutes River, and on steep slopes east of the mouth of the John Day River on the Oregon side of the Columbia River. Herds may also have been found up the Klickitat River, but those have not been seen for many decades.
