The photo above shows a close-up of turkey mullein as seen at Catherine Creek in the central Columbia River Gorge.......July 7, 2006. Although the flowers are quite ordinary, the leaves are quite attractive due to their fuzzy, frosty appearance. This species is quite common east of Rock Creek and eastward of Roosevelt, WA along Washington Highway #14 and makes an attractive display during mid-summer in this area.
Range:
In the Columbia River Gorge, turkey mullein may be found between the elevations of 100'-500' from the Major Creek Plateau eastwards at least to US 395 near Umatilla, OR.
