White Fairypoppy, White Fairy-poppy, White Meconella
Meconella oregana

An attractive cluster of white fairypoppies as seen in a vernally moist swale in Wasco County, OR................April 8, 2011. It is perhaps more common to see single plants or small clusters of plants in bloom at this site rather than such a large grouping.

Close-ups of the flowers, fruits and leaves as well as whole plants of white fairypoppy as seen in Wasco County, OR................April 8, 2011. Besides moist vernal swales, this species can be found at the crests of basalt cliffs (where there is less vegetation or mosses), on disturbed soils along trails, on balds and amongst forest litter in clearings in the Oregon white oak forest.
