English sundew
A close-up of a leaf of english sundew. Note the many glands
at the ends of long stalks on the entire leaf blade surface. These are what
small insects become stuck on. The leaf then curls around the insect and digests
the insect. Molecules obtained from the digested insect are used by the sundew,
as they live in nutrient poor (especially nitrogen), moist soils.
