[The Buttercup Family of Denali National Park and Preserve]

Snow buttercup as seen on tundra near Little Stony Creek within one-quarter mile downstream of the Park Road, Denali National Park and Preserve.............June 17, 2012. Note the spreading, rusty brown hairs on the pedicels and especially the outer surface of the sepals which helps distinguish this species from the very similar Eschsholtz's buttercup (Ranunculus eschscholtzii var. escholtzii).
