This butterfly was photographed at the Butterfly Garden at Monteverde, Costa Rica on January 1, 1997.
This individual is rather weather worn. Evidently this species is found with
wings very tattered due to heavy predation by birds. This individual is perhaps
a survivor of at least several attacks?
