Two views (left and center) of the bark of western white pine as seen along the Tamanawas Falls Trail, Mount Hood National Forest.......May 25, 2014. The image at right shows a close view of the bark of western white pine as seen along the Cinnamon Trail near the southern boundary of the Mount Saint Helens National Volcanic Monument.......September 28, 2014. This was the only individual we saw along the trail, and it was large enough to tower over all the other conifers. It was largely hidden by the shorter trees and the only reason we found it was the cones dropped on the trail.
