The photo above shows mountain big sagebrush as seen on the south-facing slopes of the Ridge of Wonders at the southeastern corner of Mt. Adams..........July 30, 2005. This species may be found at this location between the elevations of 5500-6500', with the bulk of the plants below 6000'.

The photo above shows mountain big sagebrush as seen on the south-facing slopes of the Ridge of Wonders at the southeastern corner of Mt. Adams...........July 30, 2005. Subspecies vaseyana can be identified in part because the top of the shrub appears fairly flat.

The photo above shows the south-facing slopes of the Ridge of Wonders on Mt. Adams with numerous mountain big sagebrush visible with its silvery blue-green foliage and emerging, erect inflorescences evident here. Note the numerous sagebrush on slopes in the distance. In addition, a large quantity of Artemisia douglasiana grows alongside the big sagebrush. The lupine seen here is Lupinus sericeus ssp. sericeus var. flexuosus. The yellow flowers are Hieracium scouleri.
