California brome spotted atop Scott Mountain, Mount Washington Wilderness.....July 18, 2023. The inflorescence consists of the panicle branches spreading to mostly reflexed.
Note the long awns (8-17 mm), which help differentiate this from var. marginatus with its shorter awns (4-7 mm) which has erect panicle branches.
