The photo above shows the flower head of tumble knapweed as seen at about 3000' at SnowKing Snopark along Road #82 on the south side of Mt. Adams..........August 25, 2005. Note the long spine at the tip of each light involucral bract, and the numerous comb-like lateral spines.

Stem leaf of Diffuse Knapweed, Tumble Knapweed, White Knapweed: Centaurea diffusa (Synonym: Acosta diffusa)

The photo above shows a close-up view of an upper stem leaf of tumble knapweed as seen at about 3000' at SnowKing Snopark along Road #82 on the south side of Mt. Adams..........August 25, 2005. Although the upper stem leaves are reduced in size and often entire, the lower leaves are pinnatifid as is the case with spotted knapweed.
