Alpine pussytoes observed beginning to bloom on sand flats along the uppermost mile of the Killen Creek Trail, Mount Adams Wilderness......August 4, 2022. Note the flagged tips to the upper leaves. This means the tips of those leaves are wrinkled and deflexed outwards or down from the axis of the stem.

Alpine pussytoes observed on gravel and sand flats at the base of the terminal moraine for the Adams Glacier, near the headwaters of the Lewis River, Mount Adams Wilderness.....August 22, 2022. Note the wavy or flagged tips of the upper and middle stem leaves.
