Synonyms: Stipa nelsonii ssp. dorei, Stipa occidentalis var. dorei

The photo above shows a close-up of the lemma and awn of what appears to be Dore's needlegrass as photographed in Morrison Creek Campground on the southern slopes of Mt. Adams..........August 22, 2008. The awns are sparsely haired or not hairy at all. If not Dore's needlegrass, then Lemmon's needlegrass should be considered although it has not been found on Mt. Adams to this point.

The inflorescence of what appears to be Dore's needlegrass are long and narrow with the awns twisted outward as the seeds mature.
