The petals of this species in this area average 16-20 mm in length and are about 5 mm or more in width. The similar western serviceberry (A. alnifolia var. semmiintegrifolia) generally has petals averaging between 12-16 mm long and up to 4 mm wide. The latter species also has a densely gray tomentose covering of hairs atop the ovary.
