The four photos above show graceful cinquefoil (the grayish, deeply cut leaflets suggest that this could possibly be variety elmeri, but only if the upper leaf surface is gray) as seen in grasslands along Lakeside Road in Conboy Lake NWR about one-half mile west of Fisher Hill Road.........August 10, 2007. Click each photo to see a larger version. The photo at lower right shows the typical light coloration of the lower leaf surface. The upper leaf surface is typically greenish.

Views of the compound basal leaf of beautiful cinquefoil. Note the silvery white hairs on the underside of the leaflets as well as the dense coat of spreading hairs on the petioles. Note that the teeth at the margins of the leaflets are cut up to one-half the way into the midvein.
