16, 2005. The long scapes at first spread outwards from the tuft of woolly basal
leaves but then typically ascend or become erect from mid-scape. Note the leafy
bracts at the base of the inflorescence.
The photo above shows the pinnately comound
leaf of Brewer's cinquefoil. The leaflets are woolly-haired below, and often
so above. The 9-11 leaflets are greater than 1.5 cm wide and 1-2 cm long, and
deeply cleft as seen in the photo. Note also the photos of older plants, taken
later in the season below.
