The two photos of naked broomrape seen above were taken at
a small, moist, rocky meadow along Rd 6000 at an elevation of 2780' on the southeast
side of Mt. Adams........late May, 2005.
The photo above shows a close-up of much of the entire plant
of naked broomrape, much of which is found underground. Note that the plant
lacks chlorophyll as it parasitizes other plants..........May 6, 2006.

The photo at left shows naked broomrape as seen
at a small, moist, rocky meadow along Rd 6000 at an elevation of 2780' on the
east side of Mt. Adams..........May 6, 2006. Many plants were very
dark purple in color. The large leaf at lower right is that of northwestern
saxifrage: Saxifraga integrifolia, a typical host species of the naked
broomrape. The photo at right shows the flower of naked broomrape as seen at Klickitat Oaks, a Columbia Land Trust property in the mid-Klickitat River drainage......April 27, 2023.
A naked broomrape with a cream-colored corolla spotted in vernally moist meadows on the southeast-facing slopes of Grayback Mountain, about 6 miles south of the Yakima-Klickitat County line........May 14, 2023. It looks like it may be parasitizing Micranthes integrifolia (large leaf at lower left).
