Croton setigerus
Synonyms: Croton setiger, Eremocarpus setigerus
The photo above shows a close-up of turkey mullein as seen at Catherine Creek in the central Columbia River Gorge.........July 7, 2006. Although the flowers are quite ordinary, the leaves are quite attractive due to their fuzzy, frosty appearance. This species is quite common east of Rock Creek and eastward of Roosevelt, WA along Washington Highway #14 and makes an attractive display during mid-summer in this area.
The photo at right shows the fuzzy upper surface of the leaf of turkey mullein as seen at Catherine Creek........July 7, 2006. Note the ovate outline of the leaf blade.
