Tomentose Snow Lichen, Woolly Coral, Woolly Foam Lichen
Stereocaulon tomentosum
What appears to be tomentose snow lichen as seen on moss-covered lava along the Pacific Crest Trail #2000 along the western edge of the Big Lava Bed about one-third of a mile south of the Crest Camp trailhead, Gifford Pinchot National Forest..........November 7, 2014.
Could this be tomentose snow lichen (Stereocaulon tomentosum)? It was seen on alpine slopes above timberline along the Butte Camp Trail, Mount Saint Helens National Monument............July 9, 2013. It appears to be nestled amongst hoary rock moss (Racomitrium lanuginosum).
