The growth of this species is compact with stems slightly ascending or prostrate. The photo at right shows a much more branched form of compact phacelia with numerous ascending stems as seen near 7100' along the Climber's Trail at the head of Hellroaring Valley, Yakama Nation lands at Bird Creek Meadows.
