Woods Strawberry, Wood Strawberry, Woodland Strawberry: Fragaria vesca ssp. bracteata (Synonyms: Fragaria bracteata, Fragaria crinita, Fragaria helleri, Fragaria vesca var. bracteata, Fragaria vesca var. crinita) - White flowers with 5 petals. The flowers are about the size of quarters and may be found above or at the same level as the leaves. The compound leaves are dark green, and look to have a rough surface due to the many veins that cross them. There are 3 leaflets.
California Strawberry: Fragaria vesca ssp. californica (Synonym: Fragaria californica) -
Broad-petal Strawberry, Wild Strawberry, Mountain Strawberry, Virginia Strawberry, Blueleaf Strawberry: Fragaria viriginiana ssp. platypetala (Synonyms: Fragaria platypetala, Fragaria virginiana var. platypetala) - Note: This is considered to be Fragaria virginiana ssp. glauca in Washington. White flowers with 5 petals. The flowers are about quarter sized and may be found at the same level as the leaves, as well as above. The compound leaves have 3 leaflets which appear smooth surfaced, somewhat blue-green in color.
