What appears to be crisped starwort beginning to bloom along the Lewis River Trail #31 between Curly Creek Falls and Bolt Camp Shelter, Gifford Pinchot National Forest.........May 3, 2015. Note the ovate leaves which are up to 3 times longer than wide, the acute-tipped sepals, the petals which are shorter than the sepals and the axillary flowers. This is early enough that any clusters of flowers at the apex of the stem (indicating another species) could be missing.
