A close-up of the calyx and glandular hairs covering the leaves within the inflorescence of diffuse collomia as seen on the eastern slopes of Wedge Mountain, Wenatchee National Forest..........June 8, 2009. This species is very similar to yellow-staining collomia (Collomia tinctoria) at first glance, but the latter species has long corolla tubes up to 14 mm long and clusters of 3 or more flowers while the former has corolla tubes 4-6 mm long and either single flowers or at most 2 flowers clustered closely together.

Depending on the variety, leaves are alternate, ovate, pitch-forked, narrowly lanceolate, or dissected (twice pinnate). Found on talus slopes at high elevations.
