Inside-out-flower blooming in the woodland garden of the webmaster in Gresham, OR........May 20, 2009.

Characteristics:

Cream colored petals turned back, with stamens & pistols pointing down. This gives the flowers the appearance of tiny white ballerinas.

Flowers are found on a loose raceme which is taller than the leaves.

Compound leaves contain 9 or more leaflets which are shaped like ducks feet.


Habitat:

Moist shady woods.


Uses or Importances:

1. Ornamental ground cover.

Leaves of inside-out flower beginning to decompose from the outside-in, creating an interesting pattern. Observed along the Lewis River Trail, between the Curly Creek Falls Trailhead and Bolt Camp Shelter, Gifford Pinchot National Forest.......October 4, 2021.
