Drive east of Bend on US Highway 20 for about 18 miles. Turn left at a large gravel pile. Head straight down the paved road, following signs for Badlands Rock Trail. After about a mile, you'll find the trailhead parking area. No fee.
The Badlands Rock Trail is an in and out trail, about 6 miles round-trip.The trail covers mostly flat, sandy ground. There are numerous fainter paths that cross the trail, so stick to the generally north-trending trail that appears more used. A faint path circumnavigates the base of Badlands Rock at the 3 mile point. Badlands Rock can be climbed (via scramble), but the footing can be difficult to to loose rocks (for those unsteady on their feet).
