Shrubby goldenweed as seen along the North Loop Road at the Steens Mountain at a point about one and one-half miles below the Kiger Gorge Overlook Road............September 1, 2011. These plants are fairly glandular, have wavy or curled leaf margins and involucres that are about 9-10 mm long with long, narrow bracts, the outer bracts longer than the inner. Note the single flower heads. Shrubby goldenweed generally has a single flower head, or at most, two or three at the tips of the branches. The similar Greene's goldenweed has multiple flower heads in its inflorescence.
