Characteristics:

Lanceleaf goldenweed is a perennial wildflower with several erect to ascending stems arising from 30-50 cm from a cluster of basal leaves. The herbage of stems and leaves is mostly glabrous. The basal leaves are lanceolate in shape, and acuminate at both ends. The blades are stiff and toothed (occasionally entire), ranging from 4-20 cm long and 5-35 mm wide. The several stem leaves are much reduced in size with sessile, clasping bases.

The corymbiform inflorescence is open with several flower heads atop long peduncles. The involucres are 7-8 mm high with the bracts of three different lengths. Individual bracts are narrowly oblong with acute green tips. The bracts range from glabrous to rough. The light yellow rays number from 10-45 and are each 5-10 mm long. The disk is usually less than 2 cm wide.

Habitat:

Lanceleaf goldenweed may be found in moist, alkaline meadows in and near the mountains.

Range:

Lanceleaf goldenweed is found from Saskatchewan south to Nebraska and west across central Idaho to eastern Oregon. It is then found south through Utah, Nevada and into eastern California.
