Hybrid Balsamroot

Balsamorhiza hookeri x sagittata

Hybrid Balsamroot: Balsamorhiza hookeri Xsagittata

Hybrid balsamroot from the old Ellensburg-Vantage Highway, central Washington...........May 3, 1998.

Both balsamroot species were numerous in the area, near the pass between the two Washington towns. Both species were in near proximity to each other, often within a few feet. The hybrids were intermediate in size, with modestly cleft leaves which were again intermediate in shape between the two species.
