Brown Bog Sedge, Buxbaum's Sedge
Carex buxbaumii
Synonyms: Carex buxbaumii var. anticostensis, Carex holmiana, Carex polygama
A close-up of the inflorescence of brown bog sedge as seen at a moist meadow at the site of an old (now largely drained) reservoir about one mile upstream from Olive Lake, Umatilla National Forest..........July 28, 2013. From the photos I've observed online of this species, the long bract subtending the inflorescence may or not be present on every specimen.
