A close-up of the inflorescence of poverty rush as seen on rocks along the west bank of the Deschutes River about one-half mile above its confluence with the Columbia River.........July 27, 2011. Note the long bracts subtending the inflorescence. In using a key, this type of inflorescence would be considered one that is terminal because although they are long, they are flattened on the medial (inside) surface and are spreading to ascending rather than rounded in cross-section and sharply erect as a continuation of the main stem in those rushes with lateral inflorescences.
