Possibly Dore's needlegrass as seen along FS Rd #8290 to Bird Creek Meadows, Gifford Pinchot National Forest.........August 25, 2005. ID was done using "The Flora of Mount Adams, Washington" by David Biek and Susan McDougall. Three needlegrass species are listed as present at Mt. Adams, including A. occidentale ssp. occidentale and A. occidentale ssp. pubescens. The latter two species have hairs up to 1 mm long along the basal segment of the awn which this individual lacks, so A. nelsonii was chosen.
