Close-up images of the inflorescences and leaves of purple avens as seen in wetland meadows northwest of Republic, Washington, Colville National Forest.........June 24, 2016. The leaves and stems are somewhat reminiscent of largeleaved avens (Geum macrophyllum) which can be found in the same habitat while the inflorescence is reminiscent of prairie smoke (Geum triflorum). The stems tend to be redder or more purplish in coloration than those of largeleaved avens.
