Drummond's Mountain-avens. Mountain-avens, Yellow Mountain-avens, Yellow Mountain Avens: Dryas drummondii (Synonyms: Dryadaea drummondii, Dryas drummondii var. drummondii, Dryas drummondii var. tomentosa, Dryas octopetala var. drummondii, Dryas tomentosa) - Low lying or mat-forming semi shrubs with evergreen leaves which are thick, leathery, and rounded and rolled over edges. The upper leaf surfaces are wrinkled and dark green, the undersides are white woolly. The yellow flowers are single atop leafless stems, each flower having 8-10 egg-shaped petals which ascend rather than spread and many yellow stamens. This is a plant of open, rocky slopes from subalpine and alpine habitats.
