Calyx of Sticky Phlox: Phlox viscida

The photo above shows a close-up of the calyx lobes of sticky phlox as seen along Balloon Tree Road in the Umatilla N.F. Note the numerous glands on the pedicel and on the calyx lobe. The similar longleaf phlox tends to be less glandular plus it has noticeable folds of tissue that expand outwards from the gaps between the calyx lobes.
