Filaree : Erodium cicutarium - Leaves compound and twice pinnate (branching twice). Lower leaflets deeply dissected. Leaves often purplish tinged. Sepals bristle-tipped. Flowers rose to purplish, the petals 3-5 mm long. Petals thinly elliptical with no notch at tips, the margins at the base of the petals ciliate. Pistil develops into a long, thin, needle-like seed pod (often called a stork's bill or crane's bill).

Musky Stork's-bill: Erodium moschatum var. moshatum - Lower leaves pinnately compound. Lower leaflets more or less toothed. Sepal tip glabrous. Petals glabrous without ciliate margins at the base. Petals red-lavender and 10-15 mm long.
