Biennial Stanleya: Stanleya confertiflora - Annuals or biennials to over 20 cm tall. Stem leaves sessile with entire margins. Basal leaves mostly sessile. Sepals pale yellow and up to 12 mm long. Fruits erect. Petals glabrous on inner surface.

Bush Stanleya, Bushy Stanleya, Prince's Plume: Stanleya pinnata var. pinnata - Perennials to over 40 cm high. Stem leaves pinnately divided with petioles. The petals are hairy on the inner surface. Flowers yellow. Style less than 0.5 mm long.

Perennial Stanleya: Stanleya viridiflora - Perennials to over 30 cm high. Stem leaves sessile with entire margins. Basal leaves with petioles. Sepals greenish white and over 12 mm long. Petals glabrous on inner surface. Fruits curved & spreading.
