Cedar Hairstreak: Callophrys gryneus

This butterfly appears to be a cedar hairstreak. It was photographed in the transition zone between big sage/bitterbrush community and Juniper/Mt. Mahogany shrub-scrub community. It is on an Allium species or wild onion. It was photographed in icy, high winds near Picture Rock Pass, several miles northeast of Summer Lake, OR.....May 26, 1996.
